Our Journey Back to Canada

The trip back to Canada usually takes us two days. However, this time we wanted to check out a few more things so it took us 6 days on the road.

Travelling through the Sand Hills of Nebraska. Stopping at Wounded Knee momuntarily before carrying onwards.

We headed to the Mammoth Site and World Fossil Finder Museum in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

We took a 20 minute helicopter ride with Black Hills Aerial Adventures. Giving us spectacular views of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. If you are in the area, we highly recommend taking the tour.

Next we were off to Rushmore Tramway Adventures to try out some ziplining. We both never done that before so it was exciting. Not to mention a bit scary at first but Collie and Dmitri were amazing guides who came with us the entire way. We opted for the full adventure which was roughly over an hour long and over a mile of ziplining. It was an absolute blast!! Here I waited until I was 58 to try it out. I wished I had done this sooner. You have to try it out.

Next we headed off to Deadwood, South Dakota. We spent the night at the Gold Country Inn.

The motel had its own restaurant which worked out perfect for breakfast.

Before heading out to check out the city we figured we would go and take a tour of Broken Boot Gold Mine. Never been in a gold mine before so this sounded like a good plan.

I filmed the entire tour with my phone and will include that at the end of the blog. It was quite the eye opener. Back in those days conditions were brutal for miners. The tour guide knew his stuff and was sure to throw in some funny humor along the way.

If you are ever in Deadwood, be sure to take the tour. It's fun for the whole family.

Next we checked out some shops, tried some free blackberry moonshine and then went and checked out Wild Bill Hickock's grave at the cemetary on the hill.

From here we went on to Wyoming to see the Devil's Tower as seen in the classic movie 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.

We would make one more stop before crossing the border in to Canada and that would be in Glendive, Montana. We wanted to see the Dinosaur and Fossil Museum. We were not disappointed as it exceeded our expectations greatly. It is by far the best dinosaur and fossil museum exhibit we have ever seen to date. We highly recommend visiting this amazing museum.

Displays are arranged in an environment as if you were there in time. So creative. This museum interprets fossils from a biblical perspective. If you don't believe in that perspective that's ok. You can still enjoy everything the museum has to offer. There's no reason why you shouldn't.

There is also a gift shop where prices are very affordable. A lot of love and care has gone in to this museum. General admission is $9. Seniors and children $7. Children 2 and under is free. Group rates are available.

It was an incredible journey back home to Saskatchewan, Canada. I'll compile photos and video of this 6 day journey into a video for you to see. It would just take up way too much space on the blog otherwise.

Looking forward to more adventures to share on our blog. Hopefully in the future we can start filming our adventures. Just not ready to do so at this time.
